What is a forex Expert Advisor?

- Open MQL4 → Experts and place the supplied MT4 EA file in that folder.
- Restart MT4 or refresh the Expert Advisors list in Navigator.
- Attach the EA to the chart specified in its setup instructions.
- Review the inputs, symbol, timeframe and available risk settings.
- Enable AutoTrading only when you have configured and tested the setup.
An EX4 file is a compiled MT4 Expert Advisor; an MQ4 file is MT4 source code that requires compilation. The channel determines which file is provided. An MT5 EX5 file cannot be installed as an MT4 EA.
